It is even more vital to be up to standard in the aeronautics industry than in others. Aerospace manufacture comes with strict specifications required by the NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program). With its Swiss quality and precision, Codere’s aerospace heat treament technology adheres to these most rigorous standards. Codere are able to fulfill even the tightest requirements of aerospace heat treament with their fully automatic or semi-automatic working conditions, as well as oil quenching or salt quenching under a protective atmosphere. The treatment of titanium alloys is also performed under optimal conditions in Codere’s heat treatment installations. Codere’s systems are even energy-saving. Messier-Dowty was so happy with the results, In 2009, CODERE delivered its second installation to the Messier-Dowty group. This CODERE installation is installed in Mexico and will be used to heat treat the A380 Landing gear.
Heat treatment is not complete without a reliable method of cooling down the metal. In salt quenching, the quench medium is composed of molten salts. The working temperature ranges from 180°C up to 500°C .The salt residues on the load can be entirely removed by washing with water, and later recovered via evaporation. Codere thinks ahead with an eye to cost savings, and offers a salt recuperator with inverse cascade system as a salt quenching option integrated in their washers. This way the salt can be reused.
Another method, oil quenching, is used when a lower cooling rate is required. Average working temperature is between 50-150°C. Additional security systems as well as fume extraction is installed in Codere oil quenching technology. To clean, rinse & dry the parts to eliminate the remains of oil residue after oil quenching, Codere recommends its own washing machine.
